Transferring Money Via the KCB Mobile Banking App

If you’d like to enjoy the convenience of online banking, you can download the KCB app. Once you’ve downloaded it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, you can take the following steps to send money from KCB to M-Pesa:

  • Open the KCB app
  • Choose Vooma Services from the dashboard
  • Select the specific KCB account you want to send money from
  • Select either Send to Self or Other
  • Enter the M-Pesa number you want to receive the money
  • Enter the amount you want to send
  • Submit the request and enter your KCB mobile banking PIN to complete the transaction.
  • Receive a message confirming the transaction.

Transfer From KCB to M-Pesa Via USSD Code

The second option for sending money from KCB to M-Pesa is mobile banking. 

Here are the steps: 

  • Dial *522# on your phone
  • You’ll be prompted to enter your M-Banking PIN to start the transaction
  • From the main menu, select MyKash; the second option
  • Select M-Pesa
  • Choose whether you’re sending the money to your phone number or someone else’s
  • Enter the amount you wish to transfer. The minimum amount is Ksh 50, and the maximum is Ksh 70,000.
  • Confirm the total amount to be deducted, including the transaction cost for sending the money.
  • Complete the transaction
  • You’ll receive a message from M-Pesa notifying you of the successful transfer.

How to Send Money from M-Pesa to Your KCB Account

Transferring money from M-Pesa to your KCB account is a slightly different but similarly simple process. 

Here are the steps to follow: 

  • Open the M-Pesa menu on your phone via the M-Pesa app or SIM toolkit
  • Choose “Lipa na M-Pesa”
  • Select the pay bill option and enter KCB’s pay bill number, 522522
  • Enter the bank account number you want to transfer the money to
  • Enter the amount you wish to send
  • Confirm the details of the transfer, including the account number and amount.
  • Enter your M-Pesa PIN
  • KCB and M-Pesa will notify you via SMS once the transaction is successful.

KCB does not charge any fees for depositing money into your account via M-Pesa, so the transaction is free of charge. 

For KCB to M-Pesa wallet transfers, you’re charged a transaction cost depending on the amount you’re sending. The transaction costs start at Ksh. 11 for transferring any amount between Ksh 101 and 500.

Opening a KCB M-Benki Account via M-Pesa

You can take advantage of the fast and convenient services offered by KCB and M-Pesa by registering for an M-Benki account. 

How do you open a KCB M-Benki account through M-Pesa?

  • Open your M-Pesa menu
  • Select “Lipa na M-Pesa”
  • Choose the pay bill option and enter the pay bill number 522522
  • For account number, type “ID” followed by your national ID number without any spacing, e.g. ID12345678
  • Enter the amount you want to deposit
  • Enter your M-Pesa PIN

You’ll receive an SMS with your M-Benki account number and another with your temporary mobile banking PIN. From there, you can set your preferred PIN, and you’re all set to make transfers between KCB and M-Pesa.
